The Vail Valley Jet Center in Gypsum, Colorado has broken ground on its community hangar and custom build hangar projects as it aims to meet growing regional and international business aviation needs.

Based at the Eagle County Regional Airport, which has recently remodelled its first-class commercial airline terminal, the Jet Center suggest the airport is “bursting at the seams with growth” resulting in 689 international business jet arrivals in 2018. Over 700 international business aircraft arrivals are now anticipated in 2019.

The center, based at Eagle County Regional Airport, suggest that fuel efficiency trends in the industry have led to aircraft designs with wider wingspans and winglet extensions that increase aircraft lift and operating efficiencies.

With the region experiencing a “lack of aircraft hangar and ramp space” the center said over 30% of it’s hangar space is dedicated to customers who live in Aspen, Garfield and Pitkin Counties.

To help meet their needs, the Vail Valley Jet Center added five acres of concrete aircraft apron, capable of handling the largest and most fuel-efficient international business jet aircraft.

The Vail Valley Jet Center has also started construction on its new 38,000 s.f. community hangar, with a private customer lounge, super-sized vehicle garages, aircraft maintenance bays and premium office spaces, each with direct walk-through door access to the hangar.

The new aircraft hangar will be designated ‘Hangar 7’ and will provide terminal and working space for passengers, flight crews, flight attendants, aircraft mechanics and aircraft service technicians.

Hangar 7 is the first of three new, extra-large community hangars to be built west of the commercial terminal and is already over-booked with base tenants. As a result, the center has begun planning for Hangar 8 and has already started breaking ground on future hangar sites.

The Vail Valley Jet Center is also embarking on a multi-use Custom Build Hangar Complex for the airport, offering a “rare opportunity to build your very own large or extra large airport hangar”.

The center plans to design and custom build each hangar to the unique specifications of each owner. The hangars will also include deluxe business offices, private garages, recreation equipment storage and upscale lounges. The complex is designed for large and extra-large aircraft with plans for 100×100’ and 120×120’ hangars to accommodate the very largest and state-of-the-art business jet aircraft.
