Nieuport Aviation, which owns and operates the passenger terminal at Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport has selected SITA’s Airport Management solution to help manage its operations.
The technology will be deployed in a phased approach, with implementation slated to begin in the second quarter of 2019.
SITA’s cloud-based business intelligent software will enable Nieuport Aviation to better monitor, measure and predict daily airport operations. It works by integrating data from terminal operations, seasonal schedules, and real-time flight data, and will send information to the flight information display system (FIDS). The result will be improved flight and capacity management and reporting, as well as stand and gate assignment monitoring and management.
“Ensuring a seamless daily passenger experience in the terminal is a priority for Nieuport Aviation,” said Neil Pakey, CEO, Nieuport Aviation.
We believe SITA will provide us with better situational awareness, enable more proactive planning and allow us to manage the many moving parts at the airport including terminal gating, employees, equipment and passengers.
Meanwhile, Diana Einerz, SITA’s president, Americas, stated that as a result of using predictive analytics based on data feeds from across the airport, the technology will “provide better visibility of terminal operations.” She addded that it will also result in “improved operations, such as reduced turnaround times, which will help the terminal, its airlines, and passengers.”
The announcement of the partnership with SITA follows Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport’ recent US$50 million terminal upgrade project. The upgrade was completed in 2018 and has resulted in more spacious passenger lounges, new food, beverage and retail concessions, and a new gate.
