WestJet targets European gateways with enhanced codeshare agreement

WestJet passengers now have even greater access to regional hubs across Europe, thanks to an expansion of the Canadian low-fare carrier’s codeshare agreement with Air France.

“WestJet’s deepened codeshare relationship with Air France means guests of both airlines will now enjoy more opportunities to travel between the fantastic destinations in Canada and Europe,” said Brian Znotins, WestJet vice-president, network planning and alliances.

The agreement means that passengers travelling with WestJet to Paris (Charles de Gaulle Airport) will be able to connect seamlessly on codeshare flights operated by Air France to Brest, Biarritz and Montpellier in France, as well as Venice, Milan and Rome in Italy and Athens in Greece.

Future plans include expanding the codeshare agreement to hubs in additional countries, including Austria, Germany and Portugal.

On the flipside, the enhanced collaboration also provides greater access for passengers travelling from Europe to WestJet’s extensive Canadian network through its hub in Calgary.

“We are thrilled to extend our reach into Europe and provide a seamless travel experience for guests travelling east and west, including reciprocal frequent flyer rewards, one itinerary and bags checked through to these Europe,” added Znotins.
