The announcement that Rapiscan Systems’ 920 CT has received C3 approval from the European Civil Aviation Conference (ECAC) is great news for passengers.

The certification means that passengers using the checkpoint screening system at airport checkpoints using the Rapiscan solution and following ECAC standards will be able to leave liquids and laptops in their carry-on luggage during the screening process.

“Achievement of this detection standard demonstrates our commitment to pursuing the highest regulatory approval standards to meet the needs of our customers,” said Mal Maginnis, president of Rapiscan Systems. “We look forward to bringing this innovative screening solution to more customers around the world,” he added.

With 3D volumetric imaging, the 920CT is superior to 2D systems as it provides improved visualisation of potential threats. The baggage screening system has also been engineered to integrate seamlessly with Rapiscan’s Tray Returns System (TRS) to create a more efficient checkpoint experience for passengers and staff.
