The major phase of traffic area repairs carried out at Oulu Airport during the summer have now been completed, with airport operator Finavia reporting that repairs were carried out without problems and on schedule.
Oulu Airport in Finland was closed to air traffic between 26 June and 31 July for the renovation of its traffic area.
Night-time restrictions will continue until Sunday 13 August, and during this time the repairs will still affect the first (Oulu to Helsinki) and last (Helsinki to Oulu) flights of the day which will be flown from and to Kemi-Tornio Airport.
“During the summer, the runway, taxiways and the apron in Oulu have been resurfaced. At the same time, the illumination system has been reformed and the taxiways upgraded in order to provide better facilities for wide-bodied planes. Finishing touches will take place during the first weeks of August, but traffic is not expected to be affected after 13 August,” said Liisa Sallinen, manager of Oulu Airport.
The repairs of the traffic areas in Oulu constitute Finavia’s largest single investment in regional airports in 2017.
