The UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) has approved Menzies Aviation’s acquisition of Airline Services – an aircraft presentation and de-icing specialist.

The acquisition, which was actually completed in 2018, makes Menzies the largest provider of aircraft de-icing services in the UK. Although the deal was closed last year, Menzies wanted full clearance of the deal from CMA prior to integrating Airline Services into its business.

“Since the acquisition of Airline Services in April 2018, we have been working hard to gain regulatory approval from the CMA,” said Jamie Ross, EVP EMEA, Menzies Aviation. “I am delighted that we can now officially welcome our Airline Services colleagues into the Menzies Aviation family. We now have the opportunity to strengthen our ground handling, de-icing, and aircraft presentation offerings in the UK, securing our place as the aviation services provider of choice.”

The deal will see 900 Airline Services employees join Menzies Aviation and it will also see Menzies expand its footprint into four new airports, bringing the total number of locations it offers aircraft presentation and de-icing services to in the UK and Ireland to 13.
