Menzies Aviation has acquired Canadian logistics services provider, GTO Global Logistics Inc, gaining its first Air Menzies International office in Canada.

The Vancouver-based GTO provides airfreight, ocean LCL, domestic and cross border road services, as well as storage and customs brokerage at airports and ports in Canada, and will be integrated into Air Menzies International (AMI) division.

As part of the deal, Menzies will acquire a customs bonded warehouse of 10,000 sq.ft. in Vancouver, which will be the first AMI office in Canada, as the business looks to expand its presence across the country.

Jonathan Clark, chief executive officer, AMI, called GTO a “perfect match” for AMI in Canada, adding: “They have been a partner of ours for several years and already have strong relationships with airlines and shipping lines which will help grow the AMI business in Canada.”

Air Menzies International (AMI) division provides wholesale Airfreight and Express services exclusively to freight forwarders, packaging companies, custom brokers and courier agents.

GTO’s owner Darrell Keen will become head of AMI’s Canadian operations, with all other employees also joining the AMI operations.
