London Southend Airport is the UK capital’s new gateway to Scotland, following an agreement with the Scottish airline, Loganair.
The new routes to Aberdeen, Glasgow and Stornoway will start in spring 2019 and will represent a major new network between London and Scotland. Aberdeen and Glasgow will have three non-stop flights each way every weekday, together with a selection of weekend services.
Stornoway will also benefit from a direct service to London Southend, offering passengers to and from the Scottish Highlands and Islands hub convenient connections to Barra, Benbecula, Islay, Kirkwall, Sumburgh and Tiree.
“All of us at London Southend Airport look forward to welcoming Loganair as our newest airline in May when these flights begin,” noted Glyn Jones, CEO of Stobart Aviation. “We expect these new routes to prove very popular with customers flying to and from Scotland.”
Commenting further on the new routes which will be operated on Embraer 145 regional jet aircraft, Loganair’s managing director, Jonathan Hinkles added: “We’re incredibly excited to be offering the first new air links between London and Scotland in many years, linking three Scottish airports to London Southend.”
