Passengers travelling through London’s Southend Airport can now make use of the Grab airport app to pre-order food ahead of their flight.

The app allows travellers to pre-order from The Navigator and Giraffe Stop in the departures lounge to take away before boarding their aircraft.

“We are continually working to improve the experience our passengers have when they get to the airport in terms of food, drink and shopping,” said Glyn Jones, CEO Stobart Aviation. “I am sure this latest development will prove incredibly popular with people who really appreciate the unique, simply easier airport experience we are offering.”

Once passengers have placed and paid for their order, the system works in real-time providing confirmation and then a notification when their food is ready to be picked up. Users are also provide with an estimation of when the food will be ready so it is kept warm for their arrival at the restaurant.

Grab’s commercial director, Avi Robinson admitted he was “delighted to partner with London Southend Airport and The Restaurant Group” to broaden its growing list of UK airports offering the Grab & Go pre-order service.

Grab offers the largest airport e-commerce platform in the world. It’s on-demand platform of mobile, order at table, and self-order kiosks provide travellers with the ability to order at a variety of restaurants for collection or gate-side delivery in a growing number of airports worldwide. “The concept is all about convenience so we look forward to facilitating each customer’s journey through the airport, making it a little more fun and a little less stressful,” Robinson added.
