Europe’s largest regional airline, Flybe, has started operating its brand new summer service between Doncaster Sheffield airport and the popular sun-kissed island of Mallorca.
Flying into Palma, Mallorca’s capital, the twice-weekly service will operate through until 2 October 2017 on Mondays and Fridays.
Delivering 2,779 hours of sunshine a year, the Balearic island of Mallorca offers a great variety of resorts to suit all tastes and budgets and is popular with holidaymakers from across Europe looking for guaranteed good weather.
To celebrate, the inaugural flight staff at Doncaster Sheffield airport surprised the lucky customer who made the very first booking for the first flight by presenting her with access to their Premium Lounge, where she was able to kick-start her holiday enjoying free food and drink before her flight.
Vincent Hodder, Flybe’s chief revenue officer, commented: “We are pleased to begin flying this new route from Doncaster Sheffield. The timing of the service gives Yorkshire-based passengers the flexibility to choose between either a long weekend or a full week or two in the sun.”
Commenting further on the new service, Chris Harcombe, head of aviation development at Doncaster Sheffield Airport said: “It is always fantastic to see the first flight set off on its new journey. Our customers asked for more low-cost flights to quality holiday spots and we listened to them.
“Flybe worked to add this route to its already impressive range of popular sun-soaked destinations, with great prices and schedules too. Today marks a moment of advancement for our region and its connections with top quality holiday destinations.”
