Cornwall Airport Newquay (CAN) is welcoming its first direct link with Scandinavia with a new service to Copenhagen from SAS.

The Scandinavian airline will commence a twice-weekly service from Copenhagen on 28 June 2019 with flights operating on Mondays and Fridays from CAN over the course of the peak summer season.

The new service, operated using 90-seat CRJ900s, will open a direct link between Cornwall and Denmark and allow passengers to connect onto a network of over 70 onward destinations in Europe, Asia and North America via a seamless transfer in Copenhagen, including cities such as Oslo and Stockholm.

The new service is expected to generate an additional 2,880 seats from CAN next summer.

“This is brilliant news not just for the Airport, but the local region of Cornwall and beyond,” commented Al Titterington, managing director, Cornwall Airport Newquay. “Adding to our confirmed direct European services to Alicante, Cork, Dublin, Düsseldorf, Faro and Stuttgart next summer, we’re sure that Copenhagen will prove just as popular.

“This is a route not only for the many Scandinavians wanting to explore Cornwall and the South West of the UK, but also for our local catchment, which now have flights designed perfectly for an extended weekend break in one of Europe’s coolest capital cities.”
