Cornwall Airport Newquay (CAN) has welcomed the inaugural flights of Eurowings’ weekly services to Berlin Tegel and Stuttgart, doubling the airport’s German connections.

Lufthansa’s low-fare airline’s seasonal services join the airport’s established links to Düsseldorf and Frankfurt Hahn.

“The success of Eurowings’ Düsseldorf route clearly demonstrated the potential for further links, and in particular, the demand from German tourists for more inbound leisure routes to our region,” said Al Titterington, managing director, Cornwall Airport Newquay.

He added: “It’s a rewarding moment when your dedicated promotion of prospective routes comes to fruition and we look forward to welcoming Eurowings’ passengers on these important new services.”

As the second largest country market after the UK to be served from CAN, Eurowings’ new operations to Germany give the airport a 20% increase in seats to Western Europe throughout summer 2018.

The route will be served with Eurowings’ 76-seat Q400s and operated on Saturdays, adding 3,000 seats to the airport’s capacity this summer.
