Low-cost carrier Wizz Air will begin a new twice-weekly service from Doncaster Sheffield Airport (DSA) in the UK to Chisinau, the Moldovian capital, from 20 December. The new link will be the only route between the north of England and Moldova, one of the fastest growing tourism destinations in the world.

Highlighting that the new route shows the “high level of confidence that Wizz has in DSA” Chris Harcombe, aviation development director at Doncaster Sheffield, also revealed that “this year we will see 25% growth in our total passengers which is  a market breaking rate of growth, with an extra 250,000 seats available across our 55 destinations.”

He also added that “Wizz Air is truly delivering ultra-low-cost travel, serving the north from DSA for over a decade with one of the youngest and greenest aircraft fleet around.”

“Wizz Air began operations at Doncaster Sheffiled Airport in 2006, and since then has been giving the Yorkshire region the opportunity to travel to a variety of fascinating destinations onboard one of the youngest and greenest fleets in the sky,” said Owain Jones, managing director, Wizz Air UK.

The Wizz Air route follows FLYONE’s new link to Chisinau from London Southend Airport, which launched on Friday 19 July.
