Central Illinois Regional Airport has officially opened its new public lounge with a ribbon-cutting ceremony to mark the grand opening.

The lounge is the second project completed in the renovation of the terminal mall area after the Illinois State Student Art Gallery earlier in the year.

The project was designed, constructed and decorated by Young Architects, P.J. Hoerr, and Majestic Interior Design under the direction of TLR Associates.

In a statement on the opening, the Bloomington-Normal Airport Authority commented that the authority “is excited to open this new amenity that will provide comfortable seating, charging stations, a relaxing waterfall, and great people-watching views.”

Located across from the Illinois State Student Art Gallery, the public lounge is for passengers and guests to relax and wait pre-security at the airport.

The airport is served by Allegiant, American, Delta and Frontier.
