A new industry film Airport Matters is drawing attention to the future of aviation and the challenges as well as opportunities facing the industry. The film has been co-produced by the Airport Operators Association (AOA) and ITN Productions Industry News.

Premiered at this year’s AOA conference, which took place at County Hall in London on 28-29 November, the programme takes a deep-dive into what the future holds for UK airports with ever-increasing passenger numbers on the horizon. Presented by national newsreader Natasha Kaplinsky, OBE, it explores the key opportunities and challenges surrounding the industry including emerging technologies, engineering solutions, airspace modernisation, sustainability, air connectivity, passenger experience, security and the commercial opportunities that enhanced travel brings.

A special report from Glasgow Airport looks at the impact of disruptive behaviour on airlines and passenger journeys and the work being done to prevent this disruption.

“Our Annual Conference takes place in the middle of a general election and will provide an excellent opportunity to discuss how industry and the next Government can work together. Airport Matters shines an important light on all the exciting innovation and future opportunities that will help the aviation industry realise the national and global opportunities that the new Government will want to deliver on,” said Karen Dee, CEO, AOA.
