WOW Air has reached the 10,000 passenger milestone for its route from Bristol to Reykjavik which only launched earlier this year.
Nicola Saunders and her husband were taking the trip to for their own celebration – their first wedding anniversary – and the two were surprised by being given VIP treatment. On arrival at the gate, the couple were met by WOW air Captain Siggeir dór Siggeirsson, members of the cabin crew and Bristol Airport’s head of aviation Peter Downes who presented a bottle of champagne and a free trip away for two with WOW air to any of the carrier’s North American destinations which connect from the airline’s Icelandic hub.
Svana Friðriksdóttir, head of communications at WOW air, commented, “Though we’ve only been operating from Bristol since May, we’ve been thrilled to fly so many passengers to our home in Iceland and, for many, on to our destinations in the US and Canada.”
WOW air flies from Bristol three times a week with onward connections to North American cities including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Montreal, Toronto, Boston and Washington DC. From November, passengers will be able to connect on to New York City.
