Nok Air and Scoot are continuing to work through the regulatory process to launch their new Bangkok-based joint venture NokScoot, with chief executive officer Piya Yodmani unable to say when they will be in a position to launch.
"We need to get started. I cannot answer when, but everything is ready, the whole team is ready," he told delegates at World Low Cost Airlines Asia (part of the Aviation Festival Asia) in Singapore. "In not too long I hope to be able to get back to you and say when we will be flying.”
Budget carrier NokScoot will operate Boeing 777-200s in two-class configuration with 415 seats on medium and long-haul routes from Bangkok's Don Muang Airport.
The airline intends to put the fun back into medium and long-haul flying, Yodmani says, with the initial focus on medium-haul flights of five to six hours.
