Wizz Air reports that it carried more than 11 million passengers in 2011, equivalent to a 15% growth year-on-year, while maintaining an average load factor of over 84%, in line with previous years.
The airline opened three new operating bases in 2011 – Belgrade in Serbia, Vilnius in Lithuania and Tirgu Mures in Romania. Currently, Wizz Air operates from 15 bases and offers more than 200 routes across Europe.
“Despite a challenging macro-economic environment, Wizz Air delivered 15% growth in 2011, one of the highest in the European airline industry. Wizz Air is the true champion of great value for money, making air travel affordable and exciting for more and more people every year. We will continue to expand our operations with the addition of more markets and airports to our route network in 2012," declared József Váradi, chief executive officer of Wizz Air.
