Wizz Air has officially made the Latvia capital Riga its 17th base, initially deploying one Airbus A320 and opening four new routes from the base to Barcelona, Doncaster Sheffield, Dortmund and Paris Beauvais.
In addition to these new routes, Wizz Air is increasing the frequencies on the existing services to London Luton and Oslo Torp. The carrier now offers eight routes to six different countries from Riga.
György Abrán, chief commercial officer at Wizz Air, commented, “I am delighted to open Wizz Air’s 17th operating low-cost base with one based aircraft in Riga. This is an important milestone for our presence in the Latvian market and indicates our commitment to offer Latvian consumers and their visitors truly affordable fares, coupled with an excellent travel experience. Beyond further enhancing the travel opportunities in the Latvian market, we are also creating a number of local jobs with Wizz Air and our local business partners.”
