During August 2016, Wizz Air carried 2,320,990 passengers, a 16.6% increase on the 1,990,323 carried during the same month the previous year.
However, the carrier’s load factor decreased by 0.2 percentage points to 93% after its available seat kilometres (ASKs) grew by 19.5% to 3,928,296,000 from 3,286,801,000 against a 19.4% growth in revenue passenger kilometres (RPKs) to 3,660,907 from 3,065,905,000.
For the rolling 12 months to August 2016, Wizz Air carried 21,505,021 passengers, marking a 19.8% rise from the 17,956,458 carried during the rolling 12 months to August 2015.
During the same respective periods, Wizz Air’s ASKs grew by 20.2% to 37,773,940 from 31,428,489, whiles its RPKs rose by 21.9% to 33,519,344 from 27,497,199. This resulted in a load factor increase of one percentage point year-over-year to 88.5%.
In August 2016, Wizz Air announced 28 new routes across its network and opened a seventh Romanian base in Sibiu with one A320 aircraft.
