Wizz Air has begun operating a new twice-weekly service from Sofia to Bristol on Mondays and Thursdays.
Together with the recently announced Sofia–Birmingham route due to commence on 28 March 2016, Wizz Air will offer three services between Sofia and the United Kingdom.
Tamara Mshvenieradze, Wizz Air’s corporate communications manager, remarked, “We are thrilled to be celebrating the launch of our Sofia route from Bristol Airport. Bristol, one of our eight UK airports, is now connected with four Wizz destinations in three countries: Bulgaria, Slovakia and Poland, and we look forward to a fruitful partnership with Bristol Airport as well as to seeing many happy passengers on board.”
“We’re delighted to welcome the arrival of another new route with Wizz Air at Bristol Airport – the fourth to be launched in just seven months,” continued Pete Downes, head of aviation, Bristol Airport. “Initially scheduled to commence from March 2016, the route launch was brought forward to January due to the strength of demand and the opportunity to better serve the thriving ski market from the South West & Wales.
”The launch of the twice-weekly service to Sofia is the first ever scheduled link to the Bulgarian capital from Bristol. Previously, over 40,000 passengers a year travelling between the two cities have had to use London airports to make this journey, and so the addition of Sofia to our network will not only save time and money for customers, it will also enable the airport to continue its objective to reduce surface leakage and make it even easier for passengers to choose to use their local airport first,” Downes concluded.
