WestJet has announced its March 2016 traffic results with a load factor of 83.2%.
Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased 7.4% year-over-year, while available seat miles (ASMs) grew 5.0% over the same period.
Meanwhile, the airline flew a record 5.3 million customers in the first quarter, a year-over-year increase of 8.4% or approximately 411,000 additional passengers. The load factor in 1Q16 rose slightly, by 0.5 pp compared with 1Q15.
"We continue to be pleased with our strong traffic growth as a record number of guests chose to fly with us in the first quarter. Our airline partnership strategy continues to contribute to our traffic and in March we added Emirates as our fifteenth codeshare partner," remarked WestJet president and CEO Gregg Saretsky.
