WestJet is also introducing a new daily non-stop service between Moncton in New Brunswick and Ottawa as well as increasing the frequency of flights between Halifax and St John's from twice to three times daily, and between Halifax and Ottawa from once to twice daily. Flights will depart Ottawa at 14:35, arriving in Moncton at 17:26. The return service will leave Moncton at 18:00, with a scheduled landing back in Ottawa at 19:07.
“These new flights represent our continuing commitment to expand WestJet service to smaller-sized cities from coast to coast, offering Canadians lower airfares, more choice and greater connectivity to our growing domestic, trans-border and international networks,” remarked Chris Avery, WestJet’s VP network planning, alliances and corporate development. “In fact, our new flights to and from Halifax represent the single largest increase in service since we began serving the city in 2003. With its fleet of 78-seat turboprop aircraft, WestJet is uniquely positioned to serve new cities and routes, and increase frequencies to existing communities.”
Other new WestJet routes launched in 2015 include Edmonton–Kamloops, Toronto–Fredericton, Toronto–Gander, Calgary–Terrace, Calgary–Yellowknife, Calgary–Loreto and Halifax–Glasgow. A new daily non-stop service between Calgary and Houston will begin on 8 September this year, and a new twice-weekly service between Abbotsford and Las Vegas will launch on 29 October.
