WestJet announces December and 2013 traffic data

WestJet has reported December 2013 traffic results and its figures for the whole of 2013.

Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) increased by 7.2% year over year to 1.760 billion from December 2012’s figure of 1.642 billion. Available seat miles (ASMs) were increased by 7.4% to 2.155 billion from 2.006 billion over the same period. These figures created a load factor of 81.7% which was 0.2 percentage points down from December 2012’s load factor of 81.9%.

The airline flew 18.5 million passengers in the full-year 2013, a year-over-year increase of 6.1% or approximately 1.1 million additional passengers.

RPMs grew to 19.591 billion from 18.263 billion in 2012, an increase of 7.3%. ASMs went up by 8.6% to 23.971 billion from 22.064 billion for the respective periods. The load factor thus fell by 1.1 pp to 81.7% in 2013 from 2012’s 82.8%.
