Vueling has won the “Regional Airline of the Year” award at the CAPA World Aviation Summit 2013 in Amsterdam for being “the best performing airline in Europe”.
Vueling was awarded the top accolade for its impact on aviation, its strategic leadership and innovation.
The airline, according to CAPA, has “set new benchmarks in the air and on the ground with its integration of distribution systems (GDSs) used mainly by travel agencies, codeshare agreements with other airlines and connecting flights via its Barcelona hub. It also offers premium services to business travellers such as priority boarding and checking, full catering and fast-track at the airport with flexible fares”.
The airline was also cited as a leader in social media, a strategy aimed at building brand awareness by offering a unique customer experience and increased engagement.
Alex Cruz, Vueling’s CEO commented, "The key element of Vueling’s success is its cost control, revenue innovation and commitment. Since the beginning we have embraced a strong company culture and values. Our staff have a huge sense of belonging and that is something that makes us stronger to compete in a tough trading environment.”
