Vueling has released traffic data for March 2010 and for the first quarter of the calendar year.
Remembering that the merger with clickair did not go through until July 2009, revenue passenger kilometres (RPKs) in March reached 765,000 compared with 367,000 in March 2009, a rise of 108.4%. Available seat kilometres (ASKs) went up by 92% to 1,022,000 from 534,000 for the respective months.
This resulted in a 6.2 percentage point (pp) increase in the load factor with March 2010’s figure standing at 74.9% compared with 68.7% last March. Passengers carried by Vueling in March totalled 864,000 compared with the previous March’s 396,000, an increase of 118.1%.
In the first quarter of 2010 (1Q10), RPKs went up by 98.1% to 1,978,000 from 999,000 in 1Q09, while ASKs only went up by 88.2% to 2,823,000 from 1,500,000 in the same period last year. The load factor thus rose by 3.5 pp to 70.1% in 1Q10 from 66.6% in 1Q09.
The airline carried 2,224,000 passengers in 1Q10, 105.7% more than the 1,081,000 who travelled with Vueling in 1Q09.
