A new codeshare agreement between Vueling and Qatar Airways will see the latter gain access to 67 Vueling routes across 24 destinations via the airlines’ shared Barcelona El Prat and Rome Fiumicino gateways.
Qatar Airways operates double-daily flights between both cities and its hub at Hamad International Airport in Doha, linking Vueling’s European network with Qatar’s global network of more than 150 destinations.
Effective immediately, the codeshare builds upon the interline agreement signed between the two carriers in October 2014.
Vueling Airlines’ chairman and CEO, Javier Sánchez-Prieto, commented, “There are increasingly closer ties between Qatar Airways and Vueling, and this agreement will enable passengers from both airlines to benefit from the flexibility and convenience provided by the codeshare on different European and Middle Eastern routes.”
“Codeshare partnerships and airline alliances continue to play an important role for Qatar Airways,” stated the carrier’s CEO, Akbar Al Baker. “The further addition of these codeshare routes will offer an enhanced and unrivalled global network and improves our competitive offering.”
Qatar Airways’ business-class customers will be placed in Vueling Airlines’ Excellence Class, with fast-track security, access to premium lounges and priority boarding and seating.
The agreement also benefits frequent fliers, with Qatar Airways Privilege Club members eligible to earn Qmiles on Vueling’s codeshare flights.
