Vueling has reported that it carried 1,298,902 passengers in August 2010, a monthly record for the airline.
Revenue passenger kilometres (RPKs) for the month totalled 1,207,122,000, an increase of 8.6% over last August’s 1,111,824,000. Available seat kilometres (ASKs) were increased by 12.1% to 1,471,191,000 from 1,312,344,000.
These figures resulted in a load factor decrease of 2.6 percentage points to 82.1% from 84.7%. As mentioned, passengers carried numbered 1,298,902, a 4.8% increase over last August’s figure.
Vueling believes the increase in passenger volume is mainly attributable to its new connecting flights at its Barcelona Airport hub, which began on 5 July. Connecting flights through Barcelona significantly increased Vueling destinations in most airports operated by the company.
