Volaris has reported its preliminary traffic results for June 2016 and for the year-to-date.
During June 2016 Volaris increased its available seat miles (ASMs) by 18.8% year over year to 1,365 million from 1,149 million in June 2015. Revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in June increased by 26.5% year over year, reaching 1,215 million, compared with 960 million last June. Volaris transported a total of 1.3 million passengers during the month, an increase of 28.6% year over year from 991,000 in June 2015. All these are combined figures for scheduled and charter operations.
The load factor for scheduled operations in June was 88.9%, up 5.4 percentage points (pp) from last June’s 83.5%.
For the first half of 2016 (1H16), Volaris reported a 9.5% rise in RPMs to 6,735 million from 5,199 million in 1H15. ASMs in 1H16 totalled 7,872 million, up 23.5% from 1H15’s figure of 6,375 million. The airline carried 7,070,000 passengers in 1H16, compared with 5,391,000 in 1H15, an increase of 31.1%. Again, all these are combined figures for scheduled and charter operations.
The scheduled operations load factor in 1H16 was 85.6%, up 4.1 pp from the 81.5% achieved in 1H15.
