Virgin America reports preliminary February 2016 results

Virgin America has reported a load factor of 78.9% for February 2016, which marks a drop of 0.3 percentage points from the 79.2% it achieved in February 2015.The airline grew its available seat miles by 21.3% from 839,564,000 to 1,018,098,000 across the same respective periods while increasing its revenue passenger miles by 20.9% from 664,566,000 to 803,562,000.Virgin America’s passenger numbers for February 2016 rose by 20% from 455,000 to 546,000 year-over-year.The carrier’s year-to date figures show a 0.3 percentage point increase from 77.7% in 2015 to 78% in 2016 after its revenue passenger miles grew from 1,403,684,000 to 1,637,893,000 against a 16.2% increase in available seat miles from 1,805,963,000 to 2,098,559,000.Virgin America carried 949,000 passengers in the rolling twelve months to February 2015 compared to 1,107,000 for the rolling twelve months to February 2016, marking an increase of 16.6% year-over-year.
