VietJetAir has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for up to 92 A320 family aircraft (62 firm and 30 purchase rights) and is to lease a further eight of the family more from third party lessors.
The firm part of the purchase agreement signed with Airbus covers 42 A320neos, 14 A320ceos and six A321ceos. The exact make-up of the 30 purchase rights will be announced later.
VietJetAir is an existing A320 operator, with nine leased aircraft, the latest of which was recently delivered new from Airbus via leasing company AWAS.
“The A320 has proven to be extremely efficient in service with VietJetAir and is a favourite with our passengers, explained Luu Duc Khanh, the airline’s managing director. “Based on this experience, we look forward to developing our business with the most economic and comfortable aircraft available today.”
