Vietjet has begun the first direct route connecting Vietnam’s economic and tourism hub of Ho Chi Minh City and Tainan, Taiwan's southern old town, the airline’s second route linking Vietnam and Taiwan.
Vietjet’s inaugural flight VJ858 arrived 15:00 (local time) at Tainan International Airport after a journey featuring Taiwanese traditional dancing and welcome gifts for passengers both on board and at the airport.
“We are very happy to launch this first direct route between Ho Chi Minh City and Tainan city. The new route has great importance for Vietnamese community, who now can travel and reunite with their families in Vietnam and Taiwan easily and affordably,” declared Vietjet vice-president Nguyen Thi Thuy Binh. “It will also benefit tourists and businessmen in the middle and south of Taiwan, who often travel between Taiwan and Vietnam.”
