Air Lease Corporation (ALC) has selected the IAE V2500 to power 30 of the 51 Airbus A320 family aircraft it ordered at the 2010 Farnborough Airshow.
This deal, valued at more than $500 million, represents the first engine order the new lessor has announced for its A320s on order. The engines will be the new V2500 SelectOne build standard and deliveries are scheduled to begin in 2011.
Steven Udvar-Hazy, chairman and CEO of ALC, remarked, “The V2500 is an extremely popular engine in the marketplace and maintains an excellent market share. Based on feedback from operators, we see a strong market for V2500-powered A320 family aircraft and look forward to a long and lasting relationship with IAE.”
IAE president and CEO, Ian Aitken, added, “ALC’s selection of V2500 SelectOne for the majority of its A320 fleet is a clear endorsement of our product from one of the industry’s most influential individuals. We look forward to growing our partnership with ALC and as we work together to serve our customers.”
