IndiGo has chosen UTC Aerospace Systems (UTAS) to supply the wheels and carbon brakes for its incoming fleet of new Airbus A320neos.
The carrier’s first A320neo is scheduled for delivery in November 2015 for which UTAS will provide the wheels and brakes through its Landing Systems facility in Troy, Ohio.
The A320neo carbon brakes use proprietary Duracarb carbon heat sink material which has exhibited superior brake life performance on other in-service programmes thereby creating significant cost savings over the life of the aircraft for customers through fewer brake removals and associated maintenance and overhaul activity.
"We are excited to welcome IndiGo as a Landing Systems customer and we look forward to supporting this new fleet with our latest generation A320 wheels and brakes," stated Jim Wharton, president, Landing Systems.
