United Airlines has announced consolidated traffic data covering March 2016 and the first quarter of the year (1Q16) for all carriers operating under the United Express brand.
In March, revenue passenger miles (RPMs) numbered 2,074,486,000, which was down 2.7% from March 2015’s figure of 2,131,560,000. Available seat miles (ASMs) were cut by 2.5% to 2,507,346,000 from 2,572,625,000 for the respective months.
The load factor thus fell by 0.2 percentage points to 82.7% in March 2016 from 82.9% twelve months previously. The rounded figure for onboard passengers showed a 4.6% decrease to 3,566,000 in March 2016 from the 3,736,000 carried in March 2015.
In 1Q16, RPMs dropped by 1.0% to 5,725,486,000 from 5,783,442,000 in 1Q15. ASMs numbered 7,108,339,000, compared with 7,144,227,000 in 1Q15, which was a 0.5% cut in capacity.
These figures created a 0.5 pp drop in load factor to 80.5% in 1Q16 from 1Q15’s result of 81.0%. Meanwhile, the rounded figure for passengers carried by United Express operators fell by 3.3% to 9,810,000 from 10,144,000 for the respective quarters.
