From 1 November, Etihad Regional will begin operating a twice-daily service between the Swiss cities of Zurich and Lugano.
The route will be performed by a Saab 2000 Turboprop featuring a two-cabin design, with five premium economy and 45 economy seats.
Although Etihad Regional has flown the Zurich-Lugano service since 2005, it was under an operating agreement with Swiss International Air Lines. Since the agreement is due to come to an end during October, Etihad Regional is incorporating the route into its winter schedule.
“The new route will not only open great opportunities for inbound tourism into Lugano but also provide additional choice for business and leisure travellers flying to Zurich,” explained Maurizio Merlo, CEO of Etihad Regional. “Beyond Zurich, our guests will be able to connect easily onto the global network of our partner airlines, Etihad Airways and airberlin.”
