Indonesia’s TransNusa is to lease a trio of ATR 72-600 aircraft, with delivery expected before the end of the year.

The new turboprops will be used to increase the carrier’s domestic route network to around 30 destinations from the 16 it currently operates. The airline’s fleet will increase its ATR fleet to seven in total.

TransNusa already operates three 72-600s and one ATR 42. It also has two BAE 146 and one Fokker 70 aircraft, which are planned to be phased out. The ATR 72-600s will be fitted with the Armonia cabin design.

The airline says its on-time performance in the first half of this year has averaged 91%.
