Tigerair Australia inaugurates Melbourne–Coffs Harbour flights

Tigerair Australia has launched a new thrice-weekly return service between Melbourne and Coffs Harbour, with the first flight operated by the carrier’s new Airbus A320 aircraft.tThe flights depart Melbourne at 09:05 on Mondays and Wednesdays and 08:45 on Fridays, arriving into Coffs Harbour at 10:55 and 10:35 respectively. The return leg leaves Coffs Harbour at 11:25 on Mondays and Wednesdays and at 11:05 on Friday.ttIt’s estimated the new route will deliver 1,080 additional visitor seats weekly through Melbourne and Coffs Harbour Airports and over 56,000 additional visitor seats annually. It also complements Tigerair Australia’s existing return services between Sydney and Coffs Harbour every Monday, Friday and Sunday, which began in 2013 as the carrier’s first intrastate route.ttTigerair’s commercial director, Adam Rowe, commented, “Recently we announced additional services on popular NSW routes such as Sydney–Adelaide, Sydney–Cairns and Sydney–Whitsunday Coast. The new Melbourne–Coffs Harbour route provides the only mid-week services between Melbourne and Coffs Harbour and is estimated to provide significant economic value to the Coffs Harbour region of almost AUS$8M a year by way of inbound passenger spend, as well as potential further growth and job development.”ttThe new route is part of the Tigerair Australia’s next phase of growth, which will include additional domestic services (between Sydney and Adelaide, Sydney and Cairns and Sydney and the Whitsunday Coast). New international services to Bali, from Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth will also commence from March 2016.t
