Tigerair Australia adopts extended use of PEDs

Tigerair Australia has been given the green light by the Australian Civil Aviation and Safety Authority (CASA) and is adopting gate-to-gate use of personal electronic devices (PEDs) with immediate effect.
“Safety is Tigerair’s number one priority and in line with industry guidelines, we are now providing the ability for passengers to use their devices on board, provided they are in flight mode, from the moment they board to the moment they disembark – including when the aircraft is taxiing on the runway, during takeoff and landing,” remarked Adam Rowe, Tigerair Australia’s commercial director.
The new development complements other improvements in passenger experience brought in by the airline, including kiosk check-in technology across two key airports (Brisbane and Melbourne), online web check in for all domestic flights and an automated bag drop service.
