Sun Country Airlines has been selected by the US Department of Transportation to serve Washington National Airport from Lansing, Michigan.
The daily round trip flight will originate in Minneapolis/St Paul and stop in Lansing before continuing onto Washington.
“This is a great addition to Sun Country’s schedule,” remarked Stan Gadek, president and CEO of Sun Country Airlines. “We would like to thank the congressional delegations of both Michigan and Minnesota, especially Senators Stabenow, Klobuchar and Franken as well as Congressman James Oberstar, for their support. We would also like to thank Michigan State University and the Capital Region International Airport for partnering with Sun Country to make this award possible.”
Sun Country will also begin service on 22 December to Orlando, Fort Myers, Las Vegas, Cancun and Montego Bay from the Capital Region International Airport. Further ahead, the airline recently announced twice-weekly service from Minneapolis/St Paul to London Gatwick for the 2011 summer season between 27 May and 4 September.
