Messier-Bugatti-Dowty has been chosen by Spirit Airlines to provide wheels, brakes and MRO services on the carrier’s entire single-aisle Airbus fleet, as well as landing gear MRO for its A319 and A321 aircraft.
Charlie Rue, VP of supply chain at Spirit, commented, “It is imperative that Spirit Airlines has safe and reliable parts and components for our fuel efficient Fit Fleet of planes. Messier-Bugatti-Dowty’s expertise in Airbus landing systems, and their proven performance and reliability they have provided us over the years, are key reasons that led to choosing them for this service.”
Spirit currently has 52 A319 and A321 aircraft in operation and 45 A320neos and 35 A320ceos on order, for all of which Messier-Bugatti-Dowty will supply wheels and carbon brakes. The landing gear MRO services for the A319s and A321s will take place at Messier-Bugatti-Dowty’s MRO facility in Querétaro, Mexico.
“We are delighted to extend our partnership with Spirit, which becomes our second customer for A320neo wheels and brakes. Through this contract we have consolidated our market position in North America, while also supporting the development of our MRO network,” added chairman and CEO of Messier-Bugatti-Dowty, Vincent Mascré.
