Southwest Airlines has announced February 2012 combined traffic results for Southwest Airlines and AirTran.
The company flew 7,236,190,000 revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in February 2012, compared to 6,964,801,000 combined RPMs flown in February 2011, an increase of 3.9%. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased by 6.2% to 9,616,404,000 from the February 2011 combined level of 9,056,585,000.
The load factor for February 2012 was 75.2%, which was 1.7 percentage points down on the combined load factor of 76.9% in February 2011. Revenue passengers carried during the month totalled 7,979,069, a 4.3% increase over February 2011’s figure of 7,652,082.
For February 2012, passenger revenue per ASM (PRASM) is estimated to have increased approximately four percent compared with February 2011’s combined PRASM.
