Southwest Airlines has announced its traffic statistics for April 2011 which show close control in matching capacity to passenger demand.
The company flew 7,040,248,000 revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in April 2011, an 8.7% increase from the 6,477,421,000 RPMs flown in April 2010. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased by 7.5% to 8,830,037,000 from the April 2010 figure of 8,215,474,000.
The load factor for the month was 79.7%, compared with 78.8% for April 2010. Revenue passengers carried numbered 7,522,952, compared with 7,495,073 last April, a 0.4% increase.
