Southwest announces leadership changes

Southwest Airlines has elected Ron Ricks, 65, as vice chairman of its board of directors following his retirement from the position he’s held as the carrier’s EVP and chief legal and regulatory officer for the past 29 years.Ricks will remain a non-officer employee of the company to assist with the transition of complex legal projects and specialised governmental affairs issues.The airline has also a number of other leadership changes, all reporting to Kelly.Tammy Romo has been promoted to EVP and chief financial officer. In addition to maintaining her most recent responsibilities as SVP and CFO, Romo will now also be in charge of supply chain management. She joined Southwest Airlines in 1991.Mark Shaw, who has been with Southwest since 2000, is to become SVP general counsel and corporate secretary. In addition to managing the company's general counsel department, Shaw now has the governmental affairs leadership reporting to him.Having joined the airline in 2004, Jeff Lamb will maintain the responsibilities of his most recent roles as EVP and chief people and administrative officer whilst expanding his leadership to include airport affairs. His new title is EVP corporate services.
