Southwest Airlines has reported its traffic figures for August 2010 including growth in RPMs, ASMs, load factor and number of passengers carried.
The Company flew 7,121,411,000 revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in August 2010, a 6.4% increase from the 6,693,859,000 RPMs flown in August 2009. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased by 3.7% to 8,650,648,000 from the August 2009 level of 8,343,899,000.
The load factor for the month was 82.3%, up 2.1 percentage points from the 80.2% for the same period last year. Revenue passengers carried numbered 7,775,342, compareed with 7,519,413 carried in August 2009, a 3.4% increase.
For August 2010, passenger revenue per ASM is estimated to have increased in the 15%-16% percent range as compared to August 2009.
