Southwest Airlines has reported July 2011 combined traffic results for itself and AirTran, which became a wholly-owned subsidiary of Southwest on 2 May 2011.
For purposes of comparability, the Company is providing combined traffic results for Southwest Airlines and AirTran for periods prior to the acquisition date.
The two airlines flew 10,047,073,000 revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in July 2011, compared with 9,488,720,000 combined RPMs flown in July 2010, an increase of 5.9%. Available seat miles (ASMs) were up by 6.6% to 11,811,291,000 from the July 2010 combined level of 11,082,165,000.
The load factor for July 2011 was 85.1%, compared with the combined load factor of 85.6% in July 2010. Revenue passengers carried totalled 10,126,908, a small increase of just 0.4% over last July’s combined total of 10,090,700.
