Southwest Airlines has reported that it flew 10,095,376 passengers in August 2015, a 6.9% increase on the 9,442,224 passengers carried during the same month in 2014.In August this year, the airline flew a total of 10.3 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs), a 7.5% increase on the 9.6 billion RPMs in August 2014. However, with available seat miles (ASMs) increasing 7.6% to 12.1 billion in August 2015, compared with the August 2014 level of 11.3 billion, the August 2015 load factor has decreased by 0.1 percentage points from 85.5% to 85.4% across the respective periods.For the first eight months of 2015, Southwest flew 78.6 billion RPMs, compared with 73.0 billion RPMs flown for the same period in 2014, an increase of 7.6%. Year-to-date ASMs have increased 6.7% to a level of 94.0 billion, compared with 88.1 billion for the same period in 2014. The year-to-date load factor is 83.6%, compared with 82.9%for the same period in 2014.
