Southwest Airlines has announced its traffic figures for January 2011 featuring a 3.9 percentage point load factor increase.
The company flew 6,226,241,000 revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in January, a 13.2% increase from the 5,499,087,000 flown in January 2010. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased by 7.5% to 8,194,165,000 from last January’s figure of 7,622,575,000.
The load factor for the month thus increase to 76.0% in January 2011, compared with 72.1% for the same period last year. Passengers carried during the month totalled 8,307,319, a 9,7% increase over last January’s total of 7,576,013.
