Southwest Airlines has reported traffic figures for September 2010 plus revenue per ASM results.
The company flew 6,064,311,000 revenue passenger miles (RPMs) in September 2010, a 5.1% increase from the 5,771,993,000 RPMs flown in September 2009. Available seat miles (ASMs) increased by 4.7% to 8,083,556,000 from the September 2009 level of 7,723,485,000.
The load factor for the month rose by 0.3 percentage points to 75.0%, compared to 74.7% for the same period last year. Revenue passengers carried numbered 6,929,811, an increase of 2.2% from September 2009’s figure of 6,778,713.
For September 2010, Southwest estimates that its passenger revenue per ASM (RASM) increased by approximately 11% compared to September 2009.
