SkyWork Airlines of Switzerland has begun service between Bern and London City using a Dornier 328.
Initially operating one daily roundtrip between Sundays and Fridays, from 5 September frequency will increase to 11 roundtrips a week facilitating day returns Monday to Friday.
Currently the Bern–London City flight leaves the Swiss capital at 18:45 and lands at London City at 19:25. The return departs LCY at 19:55 and reaches Bern at 22:35.
The extra daily rotations from 5 September will see flights takeoff from Bern at 06:45, arriving at LCY at 07:25. A swift turnaround will see the aircraft head back to Bern at 07:55, to land there at 10:35.
Recognising the importance of the travel trade on this route, SkyWork bookings will be accessible on the GDS systems, Amadeus and Galileo, from early April.
Matthew Hall, chief commercial officer of London City Airport commented, “We are delighted to see the return of Bern to the LCY portfolio and feel that as expansion of London continues to moves towards the east of London, our Swiss passengers will see the demand for business travel connections increase. SkyWork is an experienced ‘aviator’ and although this is their first entry point into London, we will be working closely with them to develop the relationship further.”
The carrier is not the first to operate the route. Air Engiadina was the most prominent of the previous incumbents, also with Do328 turboprops.
